MA, CRPO, Non-certified member of CCPA
Cheryl moved to lovely Victoria from Ontario in 2016, and plans to never go back. Sometime ago, she obtained her Masters in Psychology from Wilfred Laurier University, and has been working every since. For over 30 years, she has provided Therapy services in the community, and for government agencies, for individuals, couples, caregivers, as well as group work. Currently, Cheryl is a certified member of the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO), and a non-certified member of Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Spending time with Max the cat, friends, and family, as well as yoga, relaxing, walks, and sports keeps her grounded.
A client-centred, client driven, and straightforward approach has been shown to Cheryl, by the people she has had the pleasure, and honour to worked with, to be most effective. Experience utilizing different approaches (e.g., CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), Mindfulness (being in the present without judgement), Solution-Focused, DBT (Dialectic Behaviour Therapy), Behaviour Therapy). The most important component is the connection between the client/person and the therapist.
Tired of short-term approaches that have you returning over and over again to therapy. Invest in yourself and hopefully, you will be able to live the life you would like to have, rather than being blocked, overwhelmed, and dragged around by the baggage in your head.
